Southampton manager Russell Martin was not too amused with a particular Saints fan coming to support his boyhood club. He articulated that he had a job to do and a game to win citing his professionalism over his political ideology as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was captured attending the game.
Martin, who has previously managed Swansea City and a franchise football club based in Buckinghamshire, followed up the blunt statement by asking: “How’s that for honesty?”
The interviewer let off a chuckle and said: “I don’t expect anything else from you”.
The Southampton manager has previously dabbled in politics, while on a podcast in 2021. He said: "If you look at the way the country’s been run for however long, I think it’s going to be quite a scary place. We lack leaders with empathy and emotional intelligence."
